Deepika Padukone’s fashion and makeup choices in the 2015 film Piku, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan, perfectly complemented her character’s simplistic personality and storyline. Known for her elegant and effortless style, Deepika’s wardrobe in the film stood in stark contrast to the usually glamorous looks donned by Bollywood divas and reflected a simple yet chic aesthetic, emphasising comfortable and relatable fashion choices. Her makeup, too, was kept natural and minimal.

Opening up about the same in a video posted by Allure on Instagram, the actor broke down her makeup look in the much-loved film. “#DeepikaPadukone breaks down her natural and stunning look in her hit movie #Piku. Only 4 to 5 minutes in a makeup chair for a standout film sounds too good to be true, but it seems there’s nothing she can’t do!” the caption read.

In the video, Deepika said, “I think a character I have played that is very similar to the way I am in real life is probably Piku,” adding that her look was “just very, very natural”.

“You could literally see the skin in the movie,” the 37-year-old said, adding that she would sit in the makeup chair “for not more than five or ten minutes, including hair and makeup”.

Deepika added that the Shoojit Sircar directorial was one of those films where she felt completely herself. “I didn’t feel the layers and, in fact, Piku is one film but I feel like that for a lot of my films. You know, we don’t really wear too much makeup unless it’s a character that requires that,” she said.

A few days back, Deepika marked the eighth anniversary of the release of the film with a few stills and behind-the-scenes pictures, featuring Amitabh and late actor Irrfan. “It’s been 8 years since this gem of a movie released with these 2 very special people. And if I could relive this experience all over again, I’d do it in a heartbeat,” she captioned the post.

“Irrfan Khan, I miss you! Amitabh Bachchan, Shoojit Sircar and Juhi Chaturvedi, I love you. To everyone who made this film possible, thank you for your energy. #Piku,” she concluded.
