Speaking to Indianexpress.com, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Northern Railway has confirmed the development. He also stated that further arrangements are under planning for passenger convenience.
Augmentation of coaches in trains amid ongoing IndiGo flight disruption
The North Western Railway has announced the operation of two special trains:
Train No. 09729, Durgapura (Jaipur) – Bandra Terminus Special train will depart Durgapura at 12:25 PM on Sunday, December 7, 2025, and arrive at Bandra Terminus at 7:00 AM the next day. Similarly, Train No. 09730, Bandra Terminus – Durgapura (Jaipur) Special train will depart Bandra Terminus at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 8, 2025, and arrive at Durgapura at 5:30 AM the next day. This train will stop at Vanasthali Niwai, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Ramganj Mandi, Bhawani Mandi, Nagda, Ratlam, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Vapi, Palg, and Borivali stations en route. This train will have a total of 23 coaches including 01 First cum Second AC, 02 Second AC, 05 Third AC, 09 Second Sleeper, 04 General Class and 02 Guard coaches.
Train No. 04725, Hisar-Khadki Special train will leave Hisar at 05.50 hrs on Sunday (07.12.25) at 12.40 hrs and depart at 13.00 hrs and will reach Khadki at 10.45 hrs on Monday. Similarly, Train No. 04726, Khadki-Hisar Special train will leave Khadki at 17.00 hrs on Monday (08.12.25) at 17.00 hrs and will arrive Jaipur station at 14.40 hrs and depart at 14.50 hrs and will reach Hisar at 22.25 hrs. This train service will stop at Sadulpur, Loharu, Chidawa, Jhunjhunu, Nawalgarh, Sikar, Ringas, Jaipur, Durgapura, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Bhawani Mandi, Nagda, Ratlam, Godhra, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Valsad, Vapi, Basai Road, Kalyan, Lonavala and Chinchwad stations en route. This train service will have a total of 22 coaches including 01 First cum Second AC, 02 Second AC, 07 Third AC, 08 Second Sleeper, 02 General Class and 02 Guard coaches.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has taken urgent and proactive measures to address the ongoing disruption in flight schedules, particularly those of Indigo Airlines. In a statement, the MoCA said: “The Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) orders of the DGCA have been placed in abeyance with immediate effect. Without compromising on air safety, this decision has been taken solely in the interest of passengers, especially senior citizens, students, patients, and others who rely on timely air travel for essential needs.”
High-Level Inquiry Ordered
The government also decided to institute a high-level inquiry into this disruption. The inquiry will examine what went wrong at Indigo, determine accountability wherever required for appropriate actions, and recommend measures to prevent similar disruptions in the future, ensuring that passengers do not face such hardships again.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has established a 24×7 Control Room (011-24610843, 011-24693963, 096503-91859) that is monitoring the situation on a real-time basis to ensure swift corrective action, effective coordination, and immediate resolution of issues as they arise.
