Some also took the opportunity to mark their dissent. A look at what their day was spent doing:
Madhya Pradesh
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, state BJP president Vishnudutt Sharma and the party’s state organisation secretary Hitanand participated in an event at the BJP’s media centre in Bhopal, during which they recited the Hanuman Chalisa, Ramdhun, and Ram Rakshasutra. They also presented sanitation workers with fruits and blankets.

Later, Yadav performed rituals at Ram Raja Temple in Orchha. He watched the live telecast of the Ayodhya Ram Temple consecration ceremony along with former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Haryana
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar paid obeisance at Karneshwar Mahadev temple and briefly addressed a gathering there. He watched the live telecast of the Ayodhya Ram Temple consecration programme in his constituency, Karnal.

Odisha

Rajasthan
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma’s day began with a visit to Dehlawas Balaji Temple at Pratap Nagar in Jaipur, from where he went to Prem Temple, also in Pratap Nagar, where he watched the Ram Temple consecration ceremony live. He then left for Salasar Balaji temple in Churu for darshan and maha aarti. From there, the CM was scheduled to travel to Khatu Shyamji temple in Sikar. Later in the evening, he is scheduled to return to Jaipur, where he will participate in a “Ramotsava” at Albert Hall, being organised by the Municipal Corporation.

Goa
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant participated in a religious ceremony at the Rudreshwar Temple, Harvalem, and also visited Shri Dev Chandreshwar temple in Kothambi, Rampurush Devasthan in Bhamai, and Gurunath Devasthan in Rumad, among several other temples.

He said the consecration ceremony was “a moment of civilizational resurgence and civilizational renaissance in the country”. He added: “On this occasion, I remember and pay tribute to all the Karsevaks and all those who contributed to making the dream come true.”
Gujarat
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel watched the live telecast of the ceremony at an event in Shilaj village, in his Ghatlodia constituency in Ahmedabad district. On the occasion, he thanked PM Narendra Modi for the temple, and also prayed to Lord Ram that the heritage and development work being done under the leadership of Modi continue, the CMO said.

Uttarakhand
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took virtual darshan from Tapkeshwar, and prayed to Lord Ram for the happiness and prosperity of the state. Earlier, the CM had performed puja and yagya with his family at Tapkeshwar temple. After the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, Dhami distributed prasad to devotees in Tapkeshwar.

Tripura
Chief Minister Manik Saha joined a Ram pujan and maha yagya at Durgabari in Agartala, which used to be the temple of the state’s erstwhile Manikya monarchs during the princely period. After the rituals, Saha said, “We can make sense of good governance if we speak of Ram Rajya. Prime Minister Modi is running the country in this model and following him, we at the Tripura government also want to provide good governance to people. Our government will try to ensure that people have their fundamental rights.”

West Bengal
Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee offered puja and performed aarti at Kalighat Temple and embarked on a Sanhati (Harmony) rally in Kolkata. She was accompanied by TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, ministers, and other leaders, as well as thousands of workers. She visited a gurdwara at Garcha, as well as a church and a mosque at the Park Circus area.

Leading the rally, CM Banerjee was seen walking with people of all religions and religious leaders. Later, she is scheduled to address a public meeting at Park Circus Maidan.
Kerala
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan released a message soon after the consecration ceremony took place, saying that India has had a “strong tradition of maintaining separation between religion and state”, and lamenting that the line between the two was “getting thinner”.
“Now, it has come to a point when the inauguration of a religious place of worship is being celebrated as a state event… As those who have pledged to preserve and protect our Constitution, let us reaffirm our commitment to its secular character by declining to participate in the event and upholding our constitutional responsibilities,” the chief minister and CPI(M) leader said.
Himachal Pradesh
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of the Congress paid obeisance at the renowned Jakhu temple dedicated to Hanuman and recited the Hanuman Chalisa. He emphasised that the Ramayana is incomplete without Hanuman and pledged to install an idol of Lord Ram soon. Encouraging people to follow the teachings of Lord Ram, he urged them to light lamps in celebration of the Ayodhya temple.

Punjab
For Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, it was business as usual on Monday, chairing several meetings at his official residence. The AAP government in Punjab had not announced any holiday in the state on Monday.
Karnataka
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who has been under fire from the BJP for the Congress government’s refusal to declare a holiday on Monday, inaugurated a Rama Sita Lakshmana temple, built by the Sri Rama Temple Trust, at Mahadevapura in Bengaluru. Speaking to reporters after this, he said, “Rama cannot be complete without Lakshmana, Sita and Anjaneya. They (BJP) are separating Rama. This is not correct.” He also said that while “Congress worships the Rama of Mahatma Gandhi, the BJP does not worship him”.

Bihar
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did not attend any official or unofficial event on Monday, nor did he make any comment on the consecration ceremony. However, JD(U) leader and state Water Resources Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha posted his congratulations to people of the country on the occasion.
