"We would amend the Uniform Civil Code, after which non-Goans can be allowed to register their marriages in the coastal state, which is currently banned under this Portuguese-era law," said Goa CM Pramod Sawant.
While the Congress was struggling to stay afloat in Karnataka after the resignation of 13 coalition MLAs, it was hit by a current in Goa as 10 MLAs of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) merged with the BJP.
Confirming the move, Sawant told The Indian Express: "I have asked Goa Forward ministers and independent Rohan Khaunte to resign. Newly Inducted Chandrakant Kavlekar (of Congress) will be the new Deputy Chief Minister."
