Ramdas Athawale on Sunday said that his party — the Republican Party of India (A) — does not support or oppose construction of a Ram temple and would prefer if the land is used for something else, like the construction of an educational institute.
Uddhav said the BJP should not rake up the Ram temple issue while canvassing for polls if it has to leave the matter to the court for judgment. He said the BJP should apologise and admit that their promise was a “chunavi jumla”.
Welcoming the court order to begin the case hearing from next month, BJP MP Uma Bharti said, "It is an important day for me and I welcome the Supreme Court decision on Ayodhya. I hope for a verdict soon."
The Centre on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court asking that it be allowed to had over the non-disputed land acquired around the disputed site to its original owners. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath welcomed the Centre's move.
