It can also surpass Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, which made Rs 525 crore nett in India, in 2023. There are 25 records that Dhurandhar has already broken.

It is yet to be seen if Dhurandhar can sustain this momentum across the third weekend, as the film will now meet some fierce competition in the form of James Cameron’s Avatar Fire and Ash, which is getting a wide release in India. The previous Avatar film opened at Rs 40.3 crore in India in 2022, and eventually went on to make Rs 391 crore in the Indian market.
Dhurandhar will have to survive the wave of Avatar if it plans to sustain itself in the theatres for longer. Dinesh Vijan’s Ikkis has already been moved to January, and Karan Johar’s Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is up for release on December 25.
Dhurandhar’s sequel is scheduled to release in March.
