Who are Rohit Godara & Goldy Brar, gangsters said to have orchestrated firing at Disha Patani’s house?

Fugitive gangsters Brar and Godara later claimed responsibility for the attack in a video that surfaced on social media. They said that the firing was retaliation for an alleged insult directed at spiritual gurus Premanand Maharaj and Anirudh Acharya Maharaj by Disha’s sister Khushboo.

Both Godara and Brar are believed to be former members of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. While recent reports indicate that the duo have cut ties from Bishnoi, some police officials say that there has been no split, and both Godara and Brar continue to operate from overseas.

Rohit Godara, 36

Born in 1989, Godara is from Bikaner district in Rajasthan. Also known as Rawatdas, he is a close confidante of Brar, and was allegedly involved in the conspiracy to kill Punjabi music icon Sidhu Moose Wala

Godara was also the alleged mastermind behind an attack on gangster Raju Theth in December 2022; Theth was shot dead by assailants. He was a rival of gangster Anandpal Singh, who was killed in an encounter by the Rajasthan Police in 2017.

In December 2023, Godara was allegedly behind the plot to kill Karni Sena leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in Jaipur. According to Jaipur Police, one of the shooters had a “direct link” with Godara. Following this, the Rajasthan Police announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for information leading to his arrest and wrote to the CBI, seeking assistance in locating him through Interpol.

In April 2024, Godara was involved in the firing outside actor Salman Khan’s residence, with the Mumbai Police naming him as an accused. A non-bailable warrant was subsequently issued against him by the court.

According to Rajasthan Police, there are currently at least 30 cases registered against him, including charges of murder, attempted murder, extortion, and violations under the Arms Act. He has also been named in connection with several extortion calls made to businessmen and politicians. Authorities believe some of these calls were fake, with impersonators pretending to be him.)

In June 2022, he reportedly flew to Dubai from Delhi using a fake passport under the name Pawan Kumar. He is currently believed to be in the United Kingdom. A Red Corner Notice has been issued against him by security agencies.

Satinderjeet Singh alias Goldy Brar, 31

Born in 1994, Brar hails from Sri Muktsar Sahib in Punjab.

A former close aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Brar has become a major concern for law enforcement agencies due to his alleged involvement in extorting businessmen across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttarakhand.

He was one of the main conspirators allegedly involved in the murder of Moose Wala in May 2022. He is also accused of orchestrating the murder of District Youth Congress president Gurlal Singh Pehalwan in Faridkot.

Brar’s father was an assistant sub-inspector in the Punjab Police. He moved to Canada in 2017 on a student visa.

The government issued a Red Corner Notice against him in 2022. Agencies have suspected his association with the banned organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

In a purported audio message recently released on social media, Brar denied having any links with the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan’s intelligence agency.

“I urge the media and administration to confirm facts before labelling someone a patriot or a traitor. We have never acted against the nation,” he can be heard saying in the clip.

He is currently wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Delhi Police and Punjab Police.
