Barzakh trailer: Magical realism meets supernatural drama in Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed’s new series

Sharing details about the upcoming series, Fawad Khan said, “It was amazing. I grew to love the people I was working with and it felt like being at home. After having seen Cake, when I was approached for Barzakh, I jumped at the opportunity. Asim’s work sets him apart as a very unique director whose emphasis is on character development in a way that is contemporary. Also, I’ve always wanted to attempt something out of the ordinary and Barzakh is nothing ordinary.”

Describing the series as experimental, he added, “It’s downright experimental and I love it. Asim and Shailja are a power combo. They’ve tuned into each other’s sensibilities and aesthetics. That makes the process all the more easier. Working with such a team is always a pleasure. Under Asim & Shailja, there are many other people who’ve made this journey memorable.”

Fawad Khan also opened up about reuniting with Sanam Saeed. He said, “Working with Sanam after all these years is still a comfort zone. I enjoyed it and I believe in her skills. It always makes my job easy.”

Sanam Saeed also expressed her excitement about Barzakh, highlighting its exploration of themes like family dynamics, love, loss, and the mysteries of the afterlife. She emphasized her interest in roles that challenge conventional storytelling boundaries and praised the series for delving into mystical elements.

“What excites me most,” Sanam added, “is the opportunity to work alongside Fawad again and share the screen with seasoned actors like Salman Shahid and Sajid Hasan, with whom I have a history of theatre collaboration.”

Premiering on July 19, Barzakh will be released simultaneously on Zindagi’s YouTube channel and ZEE5, with new episodes available every Tuesday and Friday at 8pm IST.
