Katrina Kaif was ‘weeping’ after break-up with Ranbir Kapoor, said she ‘ruined’ her career because of him

In a chat with the YouTube channel of Zahra Jani, Pooja shared that it was Ranbir and Deepika’s make-up artists who initially helped them in exchanging numbers. She shared that she interviewed the artists who told her that both new actors were shooting in Film City at the time. Ranbir was working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya, and Deepika was working on Om Shanti Om. “Deepika’s make-up artist told her that Ranbir is shooting next door. She said, ‘I have heard his name’,” she shared and added that on the other end, Ranbir’s make-up artist also told him that “Prakash Padukone’s daughter is shooting next door”.

Hearing this, Ranbir expressed an interest in meeting Deepika. “He said, ‘Wow, I would like to meet her personally, so I need her number’. So the make-up artists exchanged their numbers and they got in touch,” she said and added that as per her knowledge, Ranbir and Deepika first met at the coffee shop of Grand Hyatt in Mumbai. Deepika and Ranbir were quite open about their relationship in those early years, and later broke up in a very public way. Deepika, during Koffee with Karan, implied that Ranbir had cheated on her.

Pooja shared that Katrina was quite emotional after her break-up with Ranbir as she had let go of a lot of film offers, assuming that she was going to get married to him. “When we went to YRF Studios to interview Katrina, she was weeping, crying like anything. She was saying I have made a mistake, and I am responsible for my loss of work,” Pooja recalled and added, “She was crying and telling us that she fell in love with him and then things didn’t work out, and now we are not together anymore. But because of him, I ruined my career.”

She recalled Katrina saying that she was “madly in love” with Ranbir and she let go of a lot of films because of him. “She must have thought that after marrying Ranbir, she would have become a Kapoor family member, and she must have thought that they didn’t allow their daughters-in-law to work in movies, at least that’s how it was back then, now things have changed. She let go of a lot of films. She was very disappointed,” she shared.

Ranbir is now married to Alia Bhatt, and they have a daughter named Raha. Deepika is married to Ranveer Singh, and they have a daughter named Dua. Katrina is married to Vicky Kaushal, and they welcomed their baby boy in November 2025.
