Ashok Saraf remembers late actor Ravindra Mahajani: ‘Sincerity was his greatest quality’
Ashok Saraf remembered his 'only handsome' friend, actor Ravindra Mahajani, who passed away on Saturday.

Actor Ravindra Mahajani, who passed away on Saturday, was a respected Marathi actor and filmmaker. Ravindra’s contemporary, ace Marathi actor Ashok Saraf remembered him as the “only handsome” actor in the Marathi film industry as he paid his condolences.
In an interaction with TV9, Ashok shared that Ravindra, even in his most difficult times, would always have a smile on his face and would address every problem he faced with a smile. He said, “Sincerity was his greatest quality, he excelled in every role. Whatever he did, he did it with his heart, so he was one of the most successful actors of our time.”
Ravindra is the father of television actor Gashmeer Mahajani, who has featured in shows like Imli, Jhalak Dikhla Ja among others. The father-son duo had appeared in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Panipat (2019), which was also his last film appearance. In the Ashutosh Gowariker film, Ravindra played the role of Malhar Rao Holkar and Gashmeer portrayed the role of Sardar Jankoji Shinde.
In an earlier interview with ETimes, Gashmeer had shared how his father has been “through a lot in life,” as he shuffled between driving taxis and auditioning during his early years. He had said, “I can’t even think of matching up to the struggle he has faced. I really look up to him.”
Ravindra Mahajane predominantly acted in Marathi films. However, he made his Hindi film debut with Amitabh Bachchan’s Saat Hindustani (1969) where he played the role of a police inspector.
