Joint Commissioner Jasjit Singh said that some defaulters had responded to the notices during the current phase of the drive.
The Municipal Corporation, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali), has stepped up its enforcement drive against chronic property tax defaulters, particularly large commercial and industrial establishments that have failed to clear long-pending dues despite repeated notices.
Municipal Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh said that sealing notices under Section 138-C of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976, have already been served on defaulting property owners. “Final warnings have been issued, granting a last window of three days to clear outstanding property tax along with applicable penalty and interest. The Municipal Corporation will proceed with sealing of defaulting properties from January 7, 2026, without any further notice,” he said.
Joint Commissioner Jasjit Singh said that some defaulters had responded to the notices during the current phase of the drive. “Four property owners or occupiers have approached the office to finalise their property tax assessments, while three have deposited dues amounting to nearly Rs 7 lakh,” he said.
While appreciating the compliance shown so far, the Municipal Corporation cautioned that strict action will continue against those who fail to regularise their dues. “Further coercive measures, including sealing and subsequent auction of properties, will be initiated against persistent defaulters as per the law,” the Joint Commissioner added.
Officials said the enforcement drive aims to ensure recovery of legitimate municipal revenue and strengthen civic infrastructure and public services.
The MC has clarified that the drive will continue until all outstanding dues are recovered. Property owners seeking clarification or assistance regarding pending tax liabilities have been advised to contact the property tax branch of the Municipal Corporation, SAS Nagar, during office hours.
