Dulquer Salman pushes Kaantha release date to accommodate the box office rampage of Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah Chapter 1
With a day to go ahead for the earlier release date, the makers behind Kaantha, Wayfarer Studios, put out a tweet confirming the postponement on their social media pages sometime back.

The Tamil language multilingual period epic Kaantha, starring Dulquer Salman in the lead role, was supposed to release this Friday, on September 12, as per earlier theatre schedules. However, with a day to go ahead for the earlier release date, the makers behind Kaantha, Wayfarer Studios, put out a tweet confirming the postponement on their social media pages.
The statement read, “We’ve been truly moved by the love and support you’ve shown since the release of our teaser. It truly means the world to us and pushes us to give you our very best. With the resounding success of Lokah, we want Chandra’s rampage in the box office to keep soaring.” A release date is yet to be announced for Kaantha.”

This move is to accommodate the growing craze for Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra in the domestic and international markets. Lokah has been doing tremendous business at the box office even after 14 days of its release. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Lokah has collected Rs 97.85 crores domestically, and reached Rs 210 crores at the worldwide box office. The superhero origin story starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen, also have some major star cameos. Lokah Chapter 1- Chandra is the first installment in a planned trilogy of films, penned and directed by Dominic Arun.
Kaantha is a period drama about a superstar from yesteryear Tamil cinema, which has Dulquer Salman reportedly playing MK Thyagaraja Bhagavathar. The film directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, revolves around some behind-the-scenes drama from a film shoot, and the superstar actor’s volatile relationship with his father is also a major plot thread. Kaantha, co-produced by Rana Daggubati, who also plays a major character in the film alongside Bhagyashri Borse and Samuthirakani. The team has not yet announced the new release date.
