Q. 1 What exactly is your profile as style director of LimeRoad.com’s online shopping for women?

It’s a lifestyle site which besides selling clothes and accessories, helps buyers create their own look as well. Prospective buyers can personally get in touch with me and I will give them style advice for the season or the next as well. I can help them create a style, without them having to step out of their home. It’s also my job to make online shopping great fun for them!

Q. 2 You are also an equity share holder in the company, so what is the fashion business like today?

The scenario is highly competitive for sure. It’s something people are very aware of and most important it’s a very loyal business. For someone who is fashionable and likes the products that you supply, they will keep coming back. In order to get loyal customers, one has to make sure you put in that extra time and effort. It’s not just them clicking, shopping and exiting, you have to ask the customer and tell them about their personality, what will suit them etc. without hurting their pocket.

Q. 3 Since when have you been style conscious?

I don’t know whether I am style conscious, but whenever I leave home for a movie, a red carpet, or any other event, I have always been very careful about how I look. However, I am not the one to be influenced by fashion magazines and by what a model or an actress is wearing. I always had my own style and knew how to create my own wardrobe.

Q. 4 What has been your research as a style director?

My observation is from simple things like watching my mom shopping online, her likes and dislikes. People today are very aware of what they want online and there are some things that are picked up faster than others. Also most people are not aware about their sizes, so we have to make sure that an all round perspective and tips are provided. Fashion is a very discerning industry, and even if there’s a small slip, it’s hard to impress people who are fashion conscious again.

Q. 5 What tips would you give to girls who want to update their wardrobes without buying too many new clothes?

The basic wear in summer would be a nice pair of white shorts, depending on how much skin you want to show and match it with four to five different coloured tops. In fact, you could reshuffle it for winter by wearing the same tops with a nice jacket.

Q. 6 What is the one fashion mistake that people often tend to make?

A lot of people tend to make the mistake of going for big brands rather than what suits their personality. Their clothes are so large and ostentatious that you miss out the person. And once an evening is over, no one talks about the person, but only about their clothes. It’s a major style disaster. I have never been the one to go in for very big brands, but always go for things that reflect my personality.

Q. 7 Which celebrity style do you covet the most?

Q. 8 Five things you always carry in your bag as a person who is conscious of her appearance?

I have some accessories I carry whenever I trave. A new pair of nudes and a good pair of sun glasses always make for a great accessories. My simple white shirts because nothing looks better than a white shirt with jeans when travelling. Not to forget a beautiful watch. Then you pretty much have everything. All these accessories help one look dressed down or up.

Remember clothes don’t make you, you make them! Make sure when you check yourself in the mirror before leaving home and if you feel great, you will walk out feeling amazing and subsequently look amazing!

Q. 10 If someone wants to go in for a wardrobe makeover, what would you suggest?

If you want to change your style and look, revert your wardrobe. Push everything that is lying on top at the back, and what has been sitting behind for 10 years bring it out. Wear that and you will end up looking different!
