Portraying the quintessential romantic hero of Hindi screen, Varun Dhawan’s act saw him serenading three television heroines
Stepping down from the time machine, Varun Dhawan’s opening act saw him serenading three Life OK actresses—Shraddha Arya, Sana Sheikh, and Chhavi Pandey on Tum hi ho (Aashiqui 2), Alf Allah (Bhaag Milkha Bhaag), and Ishqwala love (Student of the Year) respectively. The audience was also given a peek into the title track of his forthcoming film, Main Tera Hero which he publicly performed for the first time at the event. “It’s second year in a row, that I performed at the Screen Awards. It was exciting to have opened the show, coming down 50 feet from the air on a time machine to host a segment. I also danced on three romantic numbers with the three Life OK actresses, and also performed for the first time on the title song of Main Tera Hero. So, this show, and performance was all the more special to me,” said the actor.
At the rehearsals
After an hectic day, shooting for Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, and promoting his forthcoming film, Main Tera Hero, the actor made sure that he got his act right, sweating it out on the stage in the night. He also did not mind waiting for his turn to take centrestage while Padukone completed her rehearsals. When Dhawan took the stage, Padukone jokingly told him that she would be sitting in the front row, just to check out his progress!
While no one can doubt the actor’s dancing prowess, he admitted to being nervous, as he had to move out of his comfort zone and dance on jazz and soft romantic numbers. “I’m slightly nervous, as I am not doing the normal Bollywood dancing or hip-hop. There’s jazz, and these slow, romantic numbers which I haven’t really performed on before,” the actor had said before he began his rehearsals. Totally engrossed in a discussion with the director of the promo he had to shoot for the Awards, the actor was oblivious to the gaggle of young fans who stood patiently to catch the actor’s attention. Dhawan obliged the girls by clicking photographs with them.
Varun Dhawan turned shutterbug as he clicked pictures of his dance partners, Sana Sheikh, Shraddha Arya, and Chhavi Pandey with SRK
