The Kashyaps Came-a-Calling

On Thursday,director Anurag Kashyap and his actress-wife Kalki Koechlin made an appearance at the Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication,Lavale. The duo were present as guest speakers at the curtain raiser to Clairvoyance,2011,the institute’s annual lecture series. Kashyap shared his experiences of the world of cinema and film-making. “The art of film-making is a continuous process. Being economical is a challenge and therefore I shoot at local festivals,slums and places that are unexplored,” said Kashyap. “I wanted to be a scientist but gave up my studies after my girlfriend got married. After attending a film festival in 1993,I realised that the stories I wrote could be films,” he revealed. The Dev D and Gulaal director is now working on his latest venture – That Girl in Yellow Boots,the story of a girl,played by Koechlin,in search of her father in Mumbai.
