The Punjabi film Jodi, starring Diljit Dosanjh, is a biopic on the life of slain Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila and his second wife Amarjot Kaur.

The release of Diljit Dosanjh’s latest film Jodi has been postponed. The film was supposed to hit the theaters on May 5. Diljit took to social media to inform his fans about the same.
Diljit wrote on Instagram, “Film di Sari Team Ne Baut Hardwork Kita.. Apna 100% Dita Sareya Ne.. Par Kisey Kaarn Eh Film Aj India ch Release Nhi Ho Rahi..Jo Jodi Da Intzaar Kar rahe c Ona Ton Maafi.. Sareya Nu Pyar Te Satkaar (The whole team of the film did a lot of hard work. They gave it their 100%. I apologise to those who were waiting for the film. Love and respect to all)”.
The Punjabi film Jodi is produced by Amberdeep Singh with Diljit Dosanjh. It also stars Nimrat Khaira in the lead role. The film is a biopic on the life of slain Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila and his second wife Amarjot Kaur.

A few days back a local court in Ludhiana ordered a stay on the release. The court ordered a stay on the film’s release after Patiala-based Ishdeep Randhawa moved court alleging that Ludhiana-based Gurmail Kaur, the first wife of Chamkila, had given the rights to make the biopic to his father Gurdev Singh Randhawa via a written agreement signed on October 12, 2012.
The court has also stayed the “broadcast, release and streaming” of another biopic on the couple, titled Chamkila starring Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in lead roles.
