Film on Maria: Ram Gopal Varma sent legal notice

Convicted Kannada film actress Maria Susairaj,found guilty of disposing the body of television executive Neeraj Grover,has sent a legal notice to bollywood director Ram Gopal Varma saying that he did not have right to release a film based on her life without her consent.

Maria has told Varma that if she is not allowed to preview the film within a week,she would initiate civil and criminal action.

“Not A Love Story”,the movie reportedly based on the Neeraj Grover murder case by Ram Gopal Varma is scheduled for release on August 19.

In a notice sent by her lawyer Sherif Sheikh,she has said “the story of the film is based on the case prepared by the police and wrongly publicised by the media which was not proved before the court and it is proved that the police have falsely implicated her in the offence,”.

Maria has also said that she is going to file an appeal against the order of the session court and the co-accused (Jerome) has already filed an appeal in the Bombay High Court and therefore the matter is sub-judice.

“Therefore,no body has the right to form an opinion till the final outcome of the said appeal( is known) by way of writing the story or releasing film”,read the notice.

Maria in her notice also said releasing any such film shall cause irreparable damage to the appeal before the high court.

Further,the notice read that “by distorting,mutilating or modifying the police case or doing any other act prejudicial to the honour or reputation of my client and from releasing such film based on her said alleged story will communicate a wrong message to the public and she will become a victim of the same.”

Ram Gopal Varma saud he has received the notice.

“Yes I have received the notice and will be going through it and will consult my lawyer before replying to it,Varma told.
