After recently winning his first National Award alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar, Vikrant Massey has announced that he has bagged his first movie with Johar’s Dharma Productions. In a recent interaction, Massey shared that he will be a part of Karan Johar’s highly anticipated film Dostana 2. Speaking to Times Now, Vikrant confirmed that he will be playing the lead role in the film, along with The Ba**ds of Bollywood star Lakshya. He said, “You will see me doing that soon. I think this news is already out. I don’t know why I’m not talking. I’m doing Dostana 2. I’m doing my first Dharma movie.”

Massey admitted that the audience will see a different avatar of him in the film. “Usme you will see me wearing good designer clothes. Karan (Johar) sir will make sure that I have wear good clothes and I wear those fancy sunglasses. Shooting somewhere in Europe,” he said. Vikrant, however, refused to reveal the name of the female lead in the film. He said, “I think wo main nahi bolunga. Wo Karan sir hi bolenge toh behtar hai. Uski bhi toh badi announcement hai (I won’t reveal that, Karan sir will say as it is a big announcement).” Confirming Lakshya’s casting, he said, “Lakshya is a part of the movie. But let the girl be a surprise,” he said.

For the unversed, Dostana 2 originally starred Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya. Kartik reportedly walked out of the film due to creative differences after which the official Instagram handle of Dharma Productions declared that they will “recast Dostana 2.”

In an earlier interview with The Lallantop, Janhvi had revealed that she shot for 30–35 days of the film with Kartik, but the film was shelved later. She said, “I don’t know really. We had even shot for that film for about 30 to 35 days. The shoot was going very well, according to me. I don’t know why the film was shelved honestly. Of course, I tried asking also, but I guess (it was because) we began shooting for that film long before Covid. And then Covid happened and essentially there was a one-and-a-half years delay. Then people felt that to restart the film… I don’t know.”

Massey’s announcement, however, clarifies that the film isn’t shelved and that it will come to theatres with a different cast.
