All Dhurandhar box office records: Ranveer Singh film beats Animal to become 10th highest grossing film in India, breaks Jawan, Pushpa 2, Chhaava records
Aditya Dhar's period spy thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, has beaten Ranbir Kapoor's Animal to become the 10th highest grosser in India and surpassed Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan to become the fastest Hindi film to cross the Rs 500 crore mark at the domestic box office.
Dhurandhar is Ranveer Singh's highest grossing film ever.
Aditya Dhar’s period spy thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, continues to dismantle box office records even in its third weekend. The film has now become the 10th highest grossing movie at the Indian box office, dethroning Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2023 family crime drama Animal, headlined by Ranbir Kapoor.
10th highest grosser in India
On Sunday, Dhurandhar added another Rs 38.50 crore to its domestic box office collection. Its total earnings in India thus reached Rs 555.75 crore. This leap allowed it to surpass Animal, which previously held the 10th highest grosser position at Rs 553.87 crore. Vanga was all praise for Dhar’s film as the two exchanged words of appreciation on X even as the latter’s film dethroned the former.
The next target for Dhurandhar is Amar Kaushik’s horror comedy Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao, which earned Rs 597.99 crore to become the highest grossing Hindi film till last year, as per Sacnilk. Given the current trajectory, Ranveer’s film is likely to topple Rao’s movie to become the ninth highest grossing film in India sometime this week.
The Rs 600 crore club kicks off from the eighth position in the list of the top 10 highest grossers at the Indian box office. Standing firmly at #8 is Laxman Utekar’s period action drama Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, which amassed Rs 601.54 crore net this year. It beat Stree, also produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, to become the highest grossing Hindi film in India.
Thus, the top 7 placeholders are pan-India films that released simultaneously in multiple languages. At #7 is another 2025 release — Rishab Shetty’s Kannada period action epic Kantara: Chapter 1, also headlined by him, at Rs 622.43 crore. This makes Dhurandhar the third Indian film this year to make it to the top 10 highest grossers list, following Chhaava and Kantara: Chapter 1.
At #6 is Atlee’s 2023 action thriller Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, which also released in Tamil and Telugu, and earned Rs 640.25 crore across India. The fifth position is held by Nag Ashwin’s Telugu dystopian sci-fi drama Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, which amassed Rs 646.31 crore last year. The fourth position is secured by the only Rs 700 crore club member — SS Rajamouli’s 2022 period action epic RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, at Rs 782.20 crore.
The third position belongs to the only Rs 800 crore club member — Prashanth Neel’s 2022 action epic KGF: Chapter 2 at Rs 859.70 crore, which also makes it the highest grossing Kannada film in India ever, right above Kantara: Chapter 2. Only the first two placeholders in the list have achieved the feat of surpassing Rs 1,000 crore — Rajamouli’s 2017 Telugu period action epic Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, starring Prabhas, at Rs 1,030.42 crore and Sukumar’s 2024 Telugu action thriller Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, at Rs 1,234.10 crore.
| Pushpa 2: The Rule | Rs 1234.10 crore |
| Baahubali 2: The Conclusion | Rs 1030.42 crore |
| KGF: Chapter 2 | Rs 859.70 crore |
| RRR | Rs 782.20 crore |
| Kalki 2898 AD | Rs 646.31 crore |
| Jawan | Rs 640.25 crore |
| Kantara: Chapter 1 | Rs 622.43 crore |
| Chhaava | Rs 601.54 crore |
| Stree 2 | Rs 597.99 crore |
| Dhurandhar | Rs 555.75 crore |
Other new box office records broken by Dhurandhar
Besides becoming the 10th highest grosser at the Indian box office, Dhurandhar has also broken another couple of records this weekend. On Saturday, it became the fastest Hindi film to cross the Rs 500 crore mark domestically, achieving the feat in only 16 days. This allowed it to surpass the record previously held by Jawan, which hit that milestone in 18 days. That also makes it the second quickest film to hit Rs 500 crore in India, following Pushpa 2: The Rule, which achieved the feat in just 11 days this year.
Also, Dhurandhar has secured the highest grossing third weekend for a Hindi film at the domestic box office. It earned Rs 22.50 crore on its third Friday (day 15), Rs 34.25 crore on its second Saturday (day 16), and Rs 38.50 crore on its third Sunday (day 17), thus amassing Rs 95.25 crore over its third weekend, the highest for any Hindi film at the domestic box office so far.
Co-produced by Aditya and Lokesh Dhar’s B62 Studios and Jyoti Deshpande-led Jio Studios, Dhurandhar boasts of an ensemble cast, also including Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun. It revolves around Ranveer’s character Hamza, an Indian spy’s years-long covert mission in Pakistan.
