Twinkle Khanna decided to continue her education at the age of 49 and moved to the UK to study further. Twinkle shared that after pursuing a few short online courses during the pandemic, she decided to continue her academics full-time and as she was applying for universities, she realised that she would be going to college with her son Aarav. They ended up in different colleges but for Twinkle, it was essential for her to move with her daughter Nitara as she was still quite young.

In an earlier conversation, Twinkle said that she grew up in an unconventional family so the idea of seeking permission from someone else never existed in her life. “I grew up in a family which was not the conventional family so the whole system and the hierarchy of asking people for permission never existed. There was no one to ask permission from,” she shared in a chat with FICCI FLO.

Twinkle then spoke about her supportive family and how her husband Akshay Kumar instantly agreed when she spoke about moving countries. But, Twinkle said that even if Akshay hadn’t agreed, she would have moved anyway. “I was very lucky that my family supported me that my husband was fine with the fact that I am moving countries and taking my younger one but even if he would not have been fine, I would have still done it but it would have been very difficult and traumatic. There would be a lot of yelling and screaming but he was okay with it,” she said.

After Twinkle’s graduation, Akshay had shared a note for his wife along with a photo from her graduation ceremony. He wrote, “Two years ago when you told me you wanted to take up studies all over again, I wondered if you meant it. But the day I saw you work so hard and perfectly manage a full-fledged student life along with home, career, me and kids, I knew I had married a super woman. Today on your graduation, I also wish I had studied a bit more to know enough words to tell you how proud you make me, Tina. Congratulations and all my love. ♥️”.
