Former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede has been making headlines lately, for his ongoing defamation case against Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix over Aryan Khan’s Netflix web series The Ba***ds Of Bollywood. The lawsuit involves a character showcased in the show, which Wankhede claimed is a defamatory portrayal of him. Now, in a recent interview, he addressed the his personal enmity with SRK.

During a conversation with HT City, he said, “There is none… I am an officer of law, whatever books and Acts are there, I do as per that. We are not living in some kind of a banana republic out here. We have a Constitution, we have a system, we have a set up. There’s a chain of command. I am a very small man, just a government servant. How can anybody have such a grudge and all those things, you know? These things are just loose talks.”

Sameer Wankhede also opened up about the allegations that his private chats with Shah Rukh Khan from 2021 were leaked during the Aryan’s case investigation. “I will tell you what the fact is. There was a writ petition which I had filed before the Hon’ble Bombay High Court. In that writ I had to present some evidence in front of the court. So why will I ‘leak’ it? I will bring it to the Hon’ble Court. What is my motive in ‘leaking’ those things?” he added.

The officer elaborated on the legal proceedings, clarifying that he gave a 65B certificate under India’s Evidence Act to verify digital records, further making sure that all evidence was presented legally and properly.

The controversy started in October 2021, when Wankhede led a raid on a cruise in Mumbai, and arrested Aryan Khan and many others. Aryan was in jail for three weeks before he was granted bail. He was given a clean chit in May 2022 due to lack of evidence. However, after Aryan’s release from prison, there were claims that a bribe had been demanded from the Khan family to grant him bail, which resulted in a corruption case against Wankhede by the CBI. He has denied all the charges time and again.
