Earlier this week, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Ridhimma Kapoor Sahni, Neetu Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, among others, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to invite him for Raj Kapoor‘s 100th birth anniversary celebration. To celebrate the legendary actor-filmmaker’s legacy, RK Films, Film Heritage Foundation and National Film Archive of India have organized a Raj Kapoor Film Festival and the Kapoors went to Delhi to invite PM Modi for the same. In a recent interview, Saif recalled his meeting with PM Modi, admiring how he was so warm and charming.

The actor told Hindustan Times, “He arrived after a day in Parliament, so I was wondering if he would be tired. But he put on a warm smile and was attentive and charming to us all! I am happy I could have been a part of it through Kareena, Karishma, and Ranbir. What a lovely honour for the family to have a stamp with Raj Sahab to commemorate his 100th birth anniversary.”

Saif Ali Khan shared further details about the interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who even enquired about his sons Taimur and Jeh. “He asked about my parents individually and said he thought we would bring Taimur and Jehangir to meet him. He signed a paper for them that Kareena asked him to. To me, he looked like he was working very hard running the country, and still taking time to connect on this level. I asked him how much rest he got and he said about three hours a night. It was a special day for me. We thanked him for taking out some of his valuable time to see us and give the family so much respect.”

During the film festival, ten movies of Raj Kapoor will be screened in 40 cities and 135 cinemas across India from December 13-15.
