As India celebrates its 76th Republic Day, marking the day the nation’s Constitution came into effect, film stars from various industries extended their heartfelt greetings to fellow citizens. Many of them also shared their hopes for a better India while stressing how we, as a society, can contribute to the country’s growth. Posting a photo of himself saluting the Indian flag, Bollywood’s Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan wrote on social media, “This Republic Day, let’s promise ourselves to contribute to an India that we can proudly pass on to the generations to come. Let’s uphold the values of the Constitution and hold our heads high with pride. Happy Republic Day and Jai Hind.”

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, meanwhile, took part in the Republic Day celebrations at the Statue of Unity at Kevadia in Narmada district, Gujarat. The 182-metre statue of India’s first Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is the world’s tallest statue, constructed at a cost of Rs 2,989 crore. Speaking to the media, Aamir recalled, “My great grand uncle, Maulana Azad, who was a comrade of Sardar Patel, stood by him in the struggle and worked alongside him and Gandhi ji (Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi). For me, this is a very special day. I was thinking about how many discussions they must have had while sitting together, and how many joys and struggles they must have faced in this journey. So, it was a very special day for me, and I really enjoyed it tremendously.”

In our collective hands rests the destiny of a nation that shines brighter with each passing day.”
