Light rain, fog fail to deter Republic Day preparations

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): The winners of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting's Republic Day School Media Contest met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and veteran Indian shooter and politician Rajyavardhan Rathore on Wednesday. The winners were awarded certificates and prizes for their contribution. The contests were held on Ministry's Facebook and Twitter page, where graffiti were invited from participants on various flagship programmes of the government. Nation on high alert ahead of Republic Day

New Delhi/Mumbai/ Srinagar, Jan 25 (ANI): Security has been beefed up in the entire nation ahead of Republic Day celebrations. Various check-posts have been set up in the national capital. The security forces have been kept on high alert in regard to the celebrations as they continued checking and frisking vehicles. Security arrangements have tightened at the Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. High alert has been issued in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in view of the recent Pathankot terror attack. Police personnel have been deployed in strength in the city, particularly around Bakshi Stadium, the venue for the main Republic Day parade in the Valley, to foil any attempts by militants.

Chandigarh, Jan 24 (ANI): French President Francois Hollande who is in India to attend the Republic Day celebrations, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's participation at the recent COP 21 in Paris and said that he had played a decisive role at the climate summit. Addressing the India France Business Summit here, the President said that his visit has two main goals- consolidate strategic partnership with India and implement decisions taken during Prime Minister Modi's visit to France.
