Rahul Roy expresses gratitude to Salman Khan for clearing hospital bill after he suffered brain stroke: ‘People say he is this or that, but he is…’
Rahul Roy suffered a brain stroke in 2020 while he was in Ladakh for the shooting of his movie. The actor's sister claims the film's director neglected the early signs and didn't pay heed to her brother's condition.

Actor Rahul Roy suffered a brain stroke while shooting for his film LAC – Live the Battle in Ladakh in 2020. The actor had to be airlifted and was admitted to the Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. His soul sister Priyanka Roy and brother-in-law Romeer Sen looked after him. Recently, Priyanka and Rahul revealed that the brain stroke could have been avoided had the film’s director Nitin Gupta been careful and not neglected the Aashiqui star’s health condition. She also shared that Salman Khan recently helped them by paying the pending hospital bill, without creating any noise about it.
Priyanka recalled how she figured that Rahul was not doing well and that something was gravely wrong with his health. She told Bollywood Hungama that her brother has a habit of calling her every day but while he was in Ladakh, he told her he can not talk.
“He never does that to me, but he told me, ‘Today, no talk.’ I was like, ‘But you are not able to talk only, what’s wrong?’ Words were not properly formed and he was stammering. But he said, ‘It’s just cold.’ I thought let me give him a night and I called him the next morning, but he didn’t pick up,” narrated Priyanka.
Hours later, Priyanka managed to get her brother on a video call, through which she realised his health is deteriorating. She managed to call the film’s director Nitin and requested him to look after her Rahul. But Priyanka claimed Nitin paid no heed. “He told me, ‘He (Rahul) is fine, don’t worry. I am a doctor, you don’t have to teach me.’ He happened to be a doctor, he was a doctor by profession and director by passion.”

Eventually, Rahul Roy was taken to a doctor in Kargil who told them that the actor “might have Aphasia due to a brain stroke or something”. This is when Priyanka says she intervened. “Then I told that guy that I need my brother at any cost. I managed to get him on the helicopter. I had to convince his twin also.”
Rahul reached Mumbai in a wheelchair and was taken to the Nanavati Hospital. The doctor there was recommended by Nitin and Priyanka said, “Later on, I understood why he was pressurising us to go the person because he wanted a film promotion.” Then the actor was shifted to Wockhard Hospital.
Priyanka and her husband had difficulty in arranging money for Rahul’s hospital bills. Nitin claimed to have helped the actor but Priyanka said the money given by the filmmaker was Rahul’s pending payment for the film. “That director said I am sending you money but I didn’t know that was his due money only. He kept telling my husband that I am helping you. He even put in the newspaper that I am helping Rahul Roy,” Priyanka said during the interview.
Rahul Roy also admitted that the stroke happened because he was diabetic and was not supposed to shoot at such a high altitude. He said, “The director should have done a background check (about my health).”
During the time, Rahul shared that it was actor Suchitra Pillai who offered him financial help. Later, the pending bills of the hospital were cleared by Salman Khan.
“The pending bill of the hospital was cleared by Salman in February. He called and asked if he can be of any help and he helped. I am very thankful to him,” said Rahul. His sister added, “He never created a news out of it. This is not some kind of ceremony or award that you need to publish, I realised this man (Salman) is a gem.” She now wants Rahul to seek help from Salman for work as well.
