Despite being married for over a quarter of a century, actor R Madhavan and his wife, Sarita Birje, continue to set couple goals even now as they never miss a chance to celebrate each other, including in public. Recently, Madhavan showed just how head over heels in love he still is with his wife by sharing an adorable and quirky social media post to wish Sarita a happy birthday. Sharing a candid extreme close-up photo of his "Pondati (wife)," where she can be seen making a goofy expression, Madhavan referred to her as a "protective giant" and the "most beautiful soul" he ever encountered. Along with numerous red-heart and kiss emojis, he wrote, "Happy Birthday to the mightiest and the most beautiful soul I know.. who's child within is a protective giant, full of compassion, care and generosity. I’m just stunned and grateful that I get to discover so much more about you with every passing year that makes me feel inspired and phenomenally fortunate. Love you Pondati (sic)." Soon, many of the couple's friends from the film industry assembled in the comments section to shower Sarita with love, and extend their wishes to her. Actor-politician Kushboo Sundar wrote, "Happpppppiest birthday to an adorable woman of substance. Sari, sending tons of love," while renowned South Indian star Radikaa Sarathkumar noted, "Happy birthday dear Sarita. Loads of peace, happiness and good health to you." Madhavan's Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein co-star Dia Mirza Rekhi and actor Shilpa Shirodkar Ranjit also extended warm birthday wishes to her. During a 2011 conversation with the Times of India, he revealed, "She was aspiring for a job in an airliner and attended my classes. When she finally bagged the cat, she thought it was in part due to my classes and took me to a 'thank you' dinner. That's how it started." They dated for a few years before tying the knot on June 6, 1999, even before he became a national heartthrob. The two are parents to Vedaant Madhavan, who is now an international swimmer.
