Alia Bhatt, who made headlines after starring in her first action role in last year’s Jigra, has taken to Instagram to hail Dulquer Salmaan’s production — the female-led superhero film Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra. The actor praised the film on social media, which stars Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead role.

She wrote, “Such a fresh blend of mythic folklore & mystery! So happy to see the love it’s getting. This is a step in cinema that I will always be eager to show my love & support for!”

Earlier, actor Akshay Kumar also spoke about the film and lauded Kalyani’s performance. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Talent runs in the family…suna thaa, ab dekh liya (heard before, saw now)! Hearing lovely things about the brilliant acting chops of @kalyanipriyan, Priyadarshan Sir’s daughter. My best wishes to her and the entire team of #Lokah on their Hindi version release. More power.”

The Lokah team recently celebrated the film’s success as it minted Rs 101 crore worldwide within seven days of release. It is the positive reviews and word-of-mouth promotion that have helped the film attract audiences to theatres. The film was released alongside Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam, but it has raced ahead of the superstar’s film, which has collected only Rs 18.10 crore in India within the first seven days.

Lokah marks the debut of a female superhero film in Malayalam cinema. Mixing folklore and fantasy elements, it tells a tale set in the modern world. The film is directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan under the banner of Wayfarer Films.
