Kriti Sanon is awaiting the release of the biggest film of her career, Adipurush, which will hit the big screens on Friday. Kriti recently opened up about portraying the role of Janaki (Sita) in the retelling of Ramayana and sharing the screen-space with Prabhas and shooting for Om Raut‘s magnum opus, which is a VFX heavy visual spectacle.
Kriti, in an interview has said that she can’t imagine anyone other than Prabhas playing Raghav (Ram) in Adipurush as the actor has “expressive eyes and a calm demeanour.” Talking to Bombay Times Kriti opened up that initially she had heard that Prabhas is quite a “reserved” actor, however, she broke the ice with him by “casually” chatting with him on the sets of Adipurush.
Kriti revealed that she she shared with him that her film was a Telugu movie and it’s tough for her to act in a language that she didn’t know. Kriti also shared that Prabhas is “incredibly grounded, warm and respectful” through out the film’s shooting schedule.
Kriti then opened up about her experience shooting on a blue screen for Adipurush as it is a VFX heavy film. Kriti said that the scale and magnitude of Om Raut’s directorial is massive and the film is going to be a “visually spectacular experience” for the audience. However, she also shared that she used to jokingly tell the director that she’s shooting for her “biggest film on the smallest set,” as the entire film is shot in a studio.
Kriti also divulged that while shooting for the film she always felt a sense of responsibility as she was playing the role of Sita, “a figure deeply revered and worshipped by millions,” and hence she realized early on the “inherent expectation to portray Janki with utmost respect and authenticity.”
Adipurush, also starring Saif Ali Khan as Ravana is scheduled to release in theatres on June 16.
