At the ongoing 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, producers and sisters Priyanka Dutt and Swapna Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies shared an update on the highly anticipated sequel to the 2024 epic science fiction film Kalki 2898 AD. The movie, starring Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in pivotal roles, has been a massive success, and the producers expressed their satisfaction with its performance.

When asked about their happiness with the film’s success, Priyanka and Swapna Dutt replied, “It’s good enough for us to make a good part two.” The sister duo confirmed that the sequel is currently in pre-production phase, with a significant portion already shot. “30-35 percent of part two has already been shot. Kalki 2 will have a big international release,” they revealed.

Director Nag Ashwin had earlier disclosed that he had shot a substantial chunk of Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 while filming Kalki 2898 AD in 2023. The producers are yet to announce the exact dates for the film’s shoot, but they assured that an update would be shared soon.

Deepika Padukone, who plays a crucial role in Kalki 2898 AD, has been on maternity leave after the birth of her baby Dua in September. Kalki 2 will mark her return to work, and the producers confirmed that her character would still be a mother in some part of the film. “She will still be the mother in some part of the film,” they said.

Priyanka and Swapna Dutt also confirmed that just like Kalki 2898 AD, the sequel of the movie will also be a “big international release”.
