Ishq Vishk Rebound is love story set in a college, a formula that was once loved by Bollywood but seems to have gone out of style.

When Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao starred in Ishq Vishk almost 20 years ago, there was a dearth of college romances. Now, 20 years later, the college romance genre seems to have gone out of style but it looks like the folks making Ishq Vishk Rebound are trying to bring it back. The trailer of the film, starring Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan, Naila Grrewal, dropped Tuesday.

From the trailer, this looks like a film where college kids are stuck in love triangles and walk the fine line between staying friends and being lovers. In the three-minute trailer, you get a sense that this is a story of best friends who have fallen in love with each other and are now navigating rough waters of their relationship. The movie is directed by Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari and produced by Ramesh Taurani and Jaya Taurani.

At an earlier event, Rohit Saraf said that Ishq Vishk Rebound is “not a remake or sequel of Ishq Vishk. The thing common between the two films is that they belong to the same franchise. But it’s a new story altogether, a love story about Gen Z.”

The movie marks the debut of Pashmina Roshan, who is the cousin of actor Hrithik Roshan. Pashmina is the daughter of music composer Rajesh Roshan. At an earlier event of the film, Pashmina spoke about her family’s legacy and said, “The pride is the legacy my family holds, the work they’ve done, I’m so proud of all of them. The pride, the luck, the support that I have come with, the pressure is to live up to that. To live up to their advice, to live up to their work, to make a place for myself in the industry where they have the hearts of the audience, that’s pressure.”

The film also marks the big screen debut of Jibraan Khan, who is best remembered for his work in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, where he played Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s on-screen son Krish.
