Madhyamik Results 2023: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) today (May 19) declared the Madhyamik results. The overall pass percentage has been recorded at 86.15 per cent this year. The result were declared from Salt Lake Nivedita Bhavan. Ramanuja Gangopadhyay, President of the State Board of Madhyamik, announced the Madhyamik results at a press conference at 10 am. According to WBBSE President, there has been a decline in the registrations for the class 10 examinations this year. A total of 6,98,628 students have registered, compared to over 10 lakh registrations in 2022. He suggested that this decline may be attributed to students’ perception of not being adequately prepared for the board exams due to the transition to online classes.President West Bengal board of Secondary examination also announced the names of the rank holders. Devdutta Majhi is the West Bengal Madhyamik topper.
There were 6,37,105 candidates out of which 5,48,909 passed the examination. Male candidates were 3,06,253, 3,76,086 were female candidates. Number of female candidates were 22 percent higher than the male candidates. Last year pass percentage was 86.60 percent slightly more than this year.
After the release of the Madhyamik results, the board president Ramanuja Gangopadhyay informed that due to the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, the examination schedule has been preponed.The examination will start from February 2 and will end on February 12 next year.
In 2023 ,A total of 118 students from 16 districts have achieved high ranks in the West Bengal Madhyamik Exam Results 2023. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has congratulated the candidates of the secondary examination. “Congratulations and best wishes to all the students who passed the secondary examination. May each of your future days be filled with success,” she tweeted.

No School from Kolkata could stand in first ten rank. The districts with the highest WB Madhyamik pass percentage includes – East Midnapore securing the highest percentage of 96.81%, followed by Kalimpong with 94.13%, and Kolkata with 93.75%.In the WBBSE West Bengal 10th Result, an intriguing feature was highlighted by the WBBSE Chief. “There is QR codes on all marksheet and certificates for enhanced authentication,” he said.
“82.88 percent students have passed Madhamik in SC category and 76.03 percentage in ST category. Purba Medinipur has scored highest followed by Kalimpong then Kolkata then Paschim Medinipur,” said Gangopadhyay.
Out of 118 students in top ten ranks, 21 are from Malda, 17 from Purba Bardhaman , 14 from Bankura, 13 from south 24 parganas. 11 from Purba Medinipur , 9 from North 24 parganas, 9 from Paschim Medinipur, 6 from Purulia, 5 from Hoogly, 4 from Howrah. 3 from Coochbehar, 2 from Birbhum and 1 from each Dakshin Dinajpur , Jalpaiguri, Jhargram and Nadia. 13.67 % Candidates have scored more than 60% marks . Examination of 20 candidates were cancelled. 2 people’s results are withheld due to technical reasons.
“We have conducted examinations in many destricts and the DM of all districts, superintendent , SDO , CMOH , PMOH , DBO , CESE , Regional Transport official all have been of great support. The home, health, transformation, information and culture department. West Bengal police . Law and order , Municipalities and Panchayat support has been of great help ,” he said.
