Bachelor of Technology is one of the most popular courses for science students which opens a plethora of opportunities. Computer science, civil, mechanical, electronics, and information technology are a few of the courses which are in high demand.
In an evolving job sector, BTech courses are also upgrading with various experts and institutes accepting the change in course structure and welcoming some emerging subjects. This article will outline some of the new BTech courses from the top universities and institutes in India which have the potential to lead the job economy in the near future.
The Varanasi-based institute provides a 4-year engineering degree programme in ceramic engineering and glass science technology. The official website of the institute mentions that the programme consists of institute science and engineering courses, which are the foundation of engineering education.
The course is then involves number of core and elective courses which cover most of the traditional (glass, cement, pottery and whitewares, refractories, abrasives, coatings etc) as well as advanced (bio-ceramics, electro-ceramics, engineering ceramics, composites etc,) areas of the ceramic and glass technology.
IIT Hyderabad started a unique Bachelor of Technology programme in Biomedical Engineering (BTech-BME), the first ever in the country, claimed the Institute. Students can take admission to the BTech programme in BME through the JEE Advanced examination. Biology at 10+2 level is not a required prerequisite.
The course structure includes topics like medical instrumentation and systems biology, healthcare data analytics, 3D bioprinting, medical optics and imaging, nanomedicine, neurotechnology, biomechanics, neuromorphic engineering, medical data modeling and simulation.
Each student will undergo a training in basic biomedical engineering in the first two years followed by a specialization in one of these areas.
IIT Indore is the only institute to offer such a unique programme in space science and engineering. Interested students can take admission using their JEE (Advanced) examination scores.
“Delve into systems ranging from orbit control and space-based optics, to ground station communications and robotics. Our Space Engineering program will equip you with the technical skills required to design solutions to complex problems using space-based assets while utilizing the principles of systems engineering. Students can learn and practice the design and management of multidisciplinary projects that enable missions to the far reaches of the solar system.” read the information section of the institute.
Space engineers, satellite system designers, mission planners, payload specialists, or remote sensing analysts are some of the career opportunities students can get after completing this UG course.
The Institute offers a 4 year BTech or a 5 year dual degree programme in the Aerospace Engineering department. The dual degree programme is the combination of a bachelor and a master degree. At the end of the academic session in the dual degree programme, a student will be awarded two degrees.
All admissions to the UG programmes at the institution for all Indian and foreign nationals are made through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and departments are allocated based on personal preference and the JEE rank.
In the PG course, students will also get a chance to research on topics like aerospace propulsion, aerospace structures, aerodynamics and dynamics and control.
A BTech student or a dual degree student in any discipline is eligible to upgrade or opt for this programme provided the student has a CGPA of 8.0 or above up to 5 semesters and is a student of IIT Madras. The allocation of dual degree specialization and award of the degree will be governed by the rules of the Institute.
Enrolled students will learn about quantum information, coherent and quantum optics, superconductivity and applications, ultrafast lasers and applications, advanced photonics laboratory, integrated optoelectronic devices and circuits, advanced topics in cryptography among others topics.
Students get an opportunity to intern with companies like Bosch and Adobe on the one hand, as well as with faculty at prestigious universities such as RWTH Aachen and ETH Zurich, claimed the information section of the website.
