Throughout his storied career, lined with Grammy wins and iconic live performances, Eminem somehow keeps finding himself in the most hilarious and awkward stories of all time. Another one of those hidden stories was recently revealed on the Graham Norton Show. Actor Kate Winslet was sharing her first experience of Saturday Night Live and how the terrifying experience also became confusing after a conversation with the Detroit rapper.
Kate was also joined by talk-show host Seth Meyers, who was asked about his days at Saturday Night Live. This question triggered a memory in Kate, who jumped in and said, “My first time was terrifying. When I was on, it was the week after Ashley Simpson was done for lip-syncing. I was then on with Eminem, and I was doing promotions for a film called Finding Neverland. Johnny Depp and I had to miss the rehearsal because we had to go and talk to Oprah Winfrey. I was so worried about what the opening monologue was going to be.”
That was the terrifying part, and then came the confusing part, as Kate described a very awkward conversation she had with Eminem. “I have to share something that I have never told anyone. Eminem asked me to shave his bottom. It’s always these kinds of things that happen with me. He said, ‘Would you shave my butt?’ and I said, ‘I’m sorry, but I don’t do personal grooming.’ I am not going to do that, honestly. “I’ve never told that story before ever in my life in public; there you go.”
While the story itself was a surprise, the very candid and honest Kate keeping it to herself for all these years certainly was. She continued her story about Saturday Night Live and said that the writers had no idea what she had to do. She said, “I came back from the Oprah thing, and the writers were still figuring it out. Later they asked me if I could sing, and I said ‘kind of’. Then they asked if I could tap-dance, and I was like, ‘sure’. Then they told me, ‘We’ll get back to you on the opening monologue,’ and I was like, ‘Oh my god!’ Suddenly that’s what I was doing for my opening monologue. Singing and tap-dance.”
