Nutritionists says the “super fruit” is a great way to rejuvenate the skin

With healthy offerings of fibre and potassium,prunes are a versatile source of many important nutrients. Health professionals see California prunes as the “ultimate super fruit” that offers remarkable benefits,working from the inside as well as from the outside.

They point out that prunes contain the most number of antioxidants — the key ingredient in anti-ageing moisturisers — as compared to other fruits. Vouching for this,nutritionist Geetu Amarnani says,“Antioxidants are special compounds that help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. When healthy cells are damaged,they are more susceptible to aging,cardiovascular diseases and certain types of cancers. Prunes are low in fat,high in Vitamin A and rich in antioxidants like beta-carotene that help tissues.” She adds that the fruit is also a good source of fibre,making it an excellent choice as a healthy snack.
