Parents object to SDIP’s party

Parents of the students of Shiamak Davar Institute of Pune took serious objection to the party that the institute organised for their students on Sunday.

Parents of the students of Shiamak Davar Institute of Pune (SDIP) took serious objection to the party that the institute organised for their students on Sunday.

Ritika Kale, mother of 11-year-old Ruhika Kale, says,“Can’t they see the panic? After one death,we are so panic striken that we don’t send our kids to malls or cinema. Even schools are closed, and in such a scenario how can they call for a party. It is becoming difficult for us to make our children understand. They should have thought before doing this. Moreover, they have issued a disclaimer that we should send children at our own risk.”

Meeta Mathew, mother of another student echoed the thought,as she said that she would not send her son for the party. “Though this means a disappointment for the child, but I can’t take risk. This is not an appreciable gesture that too from a responsible and renowned institute like SDIP.”

When contacted,Nikhil Shetty, manager,SDIP,said,“It was all pre-scheduled. We have already cancelled our presentation, which was an important thing. Students were all disappointed,so we thought of going ahead with the party. But we do realise that the outbreak of swine flu and so many confirm cases in Pune is a matter of concern, but we cannot even call all our students and tell them that they should not come. So we have issued a disclaimer that parents can send their wards on their own risk, that is,they may or may not send their children for the party.”

Sushila More, mother of Meenakshi More, student,SDIP,said that thought her daughter is not going to attend the party, yet she doesn’t think it is irresponsible on institute’s part to go ahead with the party.

“Being a mother I am worried and I would not like to take risk. The party and the presentation were planned long ago. And they have cancelled the presentation that shows that they are worried. As far as the party is concerned,it is a good move that they have issued a disclaimer and not forcing anybody to attend the same.”
