De-addiction Camp held
A free de-addiction camp was held in the city for people suffering from addiction from drugs and alcohol from June 11 to 26. Santulan,that organised this camp,aimed it to coincide with International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking,which fell on June 26. The participants were offered medication,food,counselling as part of the camp. The next camp is to be held on August 1.
PGDEMS diploma course started at Symbiosis
The Saudi Commission for Health Specialists has accredited the Post Graduate Diploma in Emergency Medical Services (PGDEMS) programme at the Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS). This programme will help in placements for those students who wish to pursue Emergency Medical Services (EMS) abroad.
Foundation Day celebrated
The Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya (TAMV) recently celebrated its 75th foundation day. As part of the festivities,a special exhibition on “Olakh Ayurvedachi” (an introduction to Ayurveda) was organised at the college,covering topics such as Ayurved and its History,Introduction to Ashtang Ayurved,Inventors of Ayurved,Introduction of Human Body,General Health,Panch Karma,Ksharsutra,Herbal medicines and Poster Presentation.
Yoga Teacher Training session to start in city
Param Yoga is starting its latest batch of Yoga Teacher Training Course starting from July 2011. This will be followed by special courses for yoga teachers – Yoga Therapy,which will take place in two modules,Power Vinyasa Yoga and Pilates. The course includes theory lectures,practical experience of doing,interactive teaching and special projects. The course aims to impart knowledge of yoga postures,knowledge of human body and its functioning as applicable to yoga,breath awareness and yogic philosophy for mind management.
Communication workshop being held
The ten life skills recommended by the WHO for adolescents are Self Awareness,Empathy,Problem Solving,Decision Making,Coping with Stress,Coping with Emotions,Creative Thinking,Critical Thinking,Effective Communication and Interpersonal Relationship. Keeping that in mind,the ‘Nine-to-Nineteen Clinic’ at Deenanath Hospital is conducting a workshop on communication and interpersonal relationships on July 3 for children in the age group of 10 to 14 years. Such workshops help the children to understand themselves and to adapt positively to the demands and challenges of everyday life, said Dr Vaishali Deshmukh,co-ordinator of the clinic.
