When Mark Twain said that clothes make a man, could he have dreamt that there would come a day when shirts could be made of gold? Datta Phuge,a Pimpri-Chinchwad resident,is the owner of a shirt made entirely of gold and Swarovski crystals,an acquisition that has earned him two titles . While the first one, which is called Gold Man,is a moniker given to him by his fellow residents, the other title comes from the Guinness Book of World Records for the most expensive shirt at Rs 1.27 crore. The shirt was custom-made for Phuge by Ranka Jewellers, and was designed by Tejpal Ranka using 22 carat gold and six Swarovski crystal buttons. Fifteen goldsmiths from West Bengal worked 18 hours a day for two weeks to finish the 3.5 kg shirt.
