Doordarshan,MIT AOE to organise ABU Robocon 2013
More than 81 teams from across the country will participate in the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) National Robocon 2013,organised by Doordarshan and hosted by MIT Academy of Engineering this year. The competition will be held from March 7 to 9 at Balewadi Badminton Hall. This year the theme is The Green Planet. The winner will represent India at the International Robocon 2013 scheduled to take place in Vietnam in August 2013. Mukesh Sharma,Additional Director General (West Zone ) Doordarshan said,Doordarshan is proud to be the key organiser of the youth centric event. Our idea is to make to make science and engineering exciting and rewarding for students.The fact that all leading engineering and IIT colleges take part in the competition goes to show the level of the competition.
Dr Yogesh Bhalerao ,Principal MIT AOE and Chief Coordinator said,There will be several awards like the best idea,best design,best engineering,best 1st timer award etc. Winner will represent India in International Robocon scheduled at Vietnam in August. He added that approximately 10,000-15,000 engineering students will attend the event.
QuEST Ingenium design engineering contest
Applications are invited from final year BE/ B Tech students for QuEST Ingenium 2013,an annual engineering design competition.The students are required to submit their entries to campus.con-nect@quest-global.com . Students can also join the Ingenium Campus Ambassadors program,details of which are available online. Areas covered in Ingenium 2013 will include aerospace and defence,industrial,oil and gas power generation and electronics and embedded systems. The last date for registration is March 15.

Symbiosis to host Little Designers Championship
Symbiosis Institute of Design on Saturday will host Little Designers Championship,an educational initiative along with Teach for India to create a nationwide classroom for future designers. The little designers championship is a collaborative effort of the School of Little Designers (S.O.L.D.) and Symbiosis Institute of Design to encourage children to use design as a tool to solve problems. This event hosted by Symbiosis will bring together 100 young children between 7-14 years along with their mentors and designers. The little designer championship will take place on March 9 at the campus of Symbiosis Institute of Design from 3pm.
City teacher receives Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Social National Award
Tambe SS,a science teacher from Wagheshwari Vidyalaya,was awarded The Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Social National Award on March 3 at Srimati Radhikatai Pandav College of Engineering Nagpur. Tambes work in the fields of medical,educational and social work has been well documented.
