ATTACKING THE Congress and INDIA bloc for ”playing vote-bank” politics for decades and trying to spread “lies”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said even if Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar himself turned up and told him to change the Constitution and end reservations, it will not happen. He said he was seeking more than 400 seats “to destroy the conspiracies of the Congress and INDIA bloc”.

“The Congress has always played votebank polititics. They have betrayed the SC, ST and OBC communities. As a result, these communities have distanced themselves from the Congress and the INDIA bloc. This has forced leaders of the Congress and INDIA bloc to spread lies. They are telling the people that BJP will change the Constitution and end reservations. I want to tell them even if Babasaheb himself came and called for ending reservations and change the Constitution, it will not happen,” the Prime Minister said at an election rally for BJP candidate Ram Satpute in Solapur. Satpute is contesting against Congress candidate Praniti Shinde.

The Prime Minister said his government never had any intention to change the Constitution and in the same breath he also clarified the need to attain over 400 seats. “If our government had such an intention, we had the numbers…but we never had such an intention. I am demanding more seats from the country so that I have more power to destroy the conspiracies of Congress,” he said. The BJP slogan for this election is “Ab ki baar, 400 paar”.

The Prime Minister said it was the Congress that had not implemented the Constitution drafted by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in Jammu and Kashmir for decades. “Congress insulted the the Constitution as for years it implemented Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. When the NDA Government scrapped Article 370, it turned into a biggest guarantee of social justice,” he said, adding that because of his track record of social justice, there was panic in the INDIA bloc camp.

Pointing out that his government has laid more emphasis on providing social justice to the people, Modi said, “My Government has given constitutional status to the OBC Commission. It is the BJP which has extended reservation for SCs and STs for 10 years. The quota for OBCs is now available in medical colleges. We have also provided 10 per cent reservation to the poor,” he said.

He said the BJP has nominated Udayanraje Bhosale from Satara seat. ”Some of my colleagues told me that even if I don’t campaign in Satara, they are ok with it. But I told them the saffron flag is flying high in Satara and will remain flying high. Today, I have come to take the blessings of the people of Satara…Take home the message from there that ab ki baar, Modi sarkar.”

In Satara, the PM who held a rally for BJP candidate Chhatrapati Udayanraje Bhosale said that till he was at the helm, he would not allow the Congress to replicate its formula of religion based reservation. “What did the Congress do all these years? The Indian Constitution is against reservation based on religion. But in Karnataka, the Congress has included Muslims in OBC reservation. Congress wants to change the Constitution and implement its Karnataka formula across the country. But I want to tell INDIA bloc leaders, that till I am there and I have the blessings of the people. I will not allow Congress’s plan to success,” he said

The PM accused the opposition of circulating fake videos of political leaders of the NDA. ”The opposition is spreading lies about me and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. They are circulating video, quoting us on something which we never said,” he said.

”When I come to Satara, it reminds of the time when the BJP declared me as the prime ministerial candidate. That time, I had gone to Raigad. Whenever I start a new journey, I take the blessings of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. I try to walk on the path shown by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Satara is the land of bravery.”

PM Modi said that during the NDA regime, the colonial Saint George’s Cross on the flag of the Indian Navy was replaced by an ensign inspired by the royal seal of Chhatrapati Shivaji.

The PM said his government has made use of technology to connect with masses and to garner feedback for various welfare schemes of the Government. ”We have used social media to establish a connect with the masses and get their feed to effectively implement various welfare measures.
