Marking the silver jubilee of Bharati Vidyapeeth University College of Engineering (BVUCOE),the BVU is coming up with a five-storey research centre in engineering and allied faculties jointly with North Carolina A& T State University. Called as Composite materials research centre. Researches undertaken here will find application in automobile and space technology,said Anand Bhalerao,principal,BVUCOE.
All India Congress Committee general secretary Digvijay Singh will lay the foundation stone of this centre on Thursday during the inauguration of silver jubilee celebrations of BVUCOE. Addressing a press meet on Monday,vice-chancellor of BVU Shivajirao Kadam said,This centre,equipped with state-of-the-art research equipments,will take students exclusively for research purposes. Singh will also inaugurate a memorial built to commemorate the silver jubilee of BVUCOE,a photographic memorial of BVUCOEs journey over the past 25 years.
As part of the silver jubilee celebrations,the BVU has also instituted the Sir Mokshagundam Visweswaraiah award for engineers for their outstanding contribution to engineering and the society at large. The award will constitute of a citation,memento and cash prize of Rs 50,000, Kadam said.
The BVUCOE will also host a national level engineers festival titled Bharatiyam. Around 6000 professors and engineers from 107 engineering colleges in the country are expected to attend the festival. The inaugural function will also be attended by Dr R A Yadav,Chairman,All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and founder chancellor of BVU Patangrao Kadam.
