Despite being the son of cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar,Nakul’s interests lie far away from cricket. A successful architect and interior designer,Nakul has now turned photographer. “The foundation for my interest in photography was laid in 2009,when I interacted and shot with professional photographers during my stay in Milan to study architecture. But it was only six months ago that I decided to capture the myriad shades that the streets of Mumbai take on,” says Vengsarkar. This exploration by the photographer has taken the form of an exhibition,Pause, which will take place at Mumbai Cricket Association,Bandra, between March 29 to April 1.

Mumbai has played the muse to many photographers in the past, but Vengsarkar says that his is an attempt to steer away from the cliches of capturing street vendors or a group of boys playing gully cricket. “I have tried to capture the colours and shades of Mumbai in various manners. Pause is my way of saying, stop and embrace every moment in Mumbai. There is so much beauty in fleeting moments that goes unnoticed. My photographs aim to capture these moments. They look more like paintings,” he explains.

Vengsarkar’s second exhibition, however, will take on a theme he is familiar with, cricket. “With the Indian Premier League around the corner,I am looking at capturing the various moods of the game,” he says.
