What do you get when you mix lip-smacking food with headbanging music? You get Sahil Demonstealer Makhijas latest venture,Headbangers Kitchenan online show that brings together the musicians two passions: good food and great music. I used to have a food blog on Facebook, which was really popular. I decided that I should now move with the times and put out my recipes on video, since thats what everyone is into, these days. These culinary experiments are followed by interviews of various music bands.
Makhija, the vocalist for Mumbai-based metal band Demonic Resurrection, then roped in Srinivaas Sunderrajan, whos the bassist for metal band Scribe. Vaas,as hes popularly known,is an accomplished filmmaker and has shot music videos for both Scribe and Demonic Resurrection. Besides this, hes also made the festival favourite,The Untitled Kartik Krishnan Project. His filming was excellent, says Makhija,When I first had the idea for the show,I thought it would have guerrilla-style camera work and would have to be retouched a lot. But Vaas really brought in high production values.
The show certainly does look good enough to feature on any food and lifestyle channel. Its first half has Makhija cook up his favourite recipesthe opening episode which went online this month featured his signature beef burgers, with rustic potatoes, while in the second half,he has an informal interview with a metal band. The first band to be interviewed was Dubai-based Nervecell, whom Makhija met last year. We actually shot the episode last year, but now were planning to be more regular with it. The show will be monthly, with the second episode going online in April.
