Prostitution racket: busted,four held

With the arrest of four people,the police claim to have busted a flesh trade racket in the Haibowal area. The police today arrested three girls and a pimp who were involved in the trade for the last few months. Meanwhile,a second pimp,Babloo,managed to escape.

The arrested man,Anil Sood,had taken a house on rent in Jassian village and had housed the girls. While two of these girls hail from Nepal,one belongs to Mumbai. The police said that Sood and his accomplice Babloo,who managed to escape,used to pay Rs 20,000 a month to each to these girls and used to send them to different clients. Besides,they also used the rented accommodation for carrying out nefarious activities,the police said.

Varinder Singh Brar,DSP City II,said they received secret information that a brothel was being run in the area. They sent a dummy customer and later conducted a raid and nabbed Anil Sood and the girls.

The Haibowal police have registered a case under the provisions of the Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act,against the accused. The accused have revealed that Anil Sood had lured one of these girls into prostitution on the false promise of sending her to Dubai.

DSP Brar said further investigations were on in the case and more persons were likely to be arrested soon.
