“In a world made violent by adults, children are the worst victims,” says singer Tara Venkatesan. The 13-year-old granddaughter of former president R Venkataraman is planning a concert with a “fun repertoire of songs” dedicated to the child victims of the Mumbai attacks. The event,to be held under her banner Music 4 Kids by Kids, will have Venkatesan performing arias and Broadway hits.

“I will sing ‘the millennium anthem’ Just Wave Hello, which is full of optimism and hope,” she says, humming the lines Raise your hand and show the world/ And tell everyone the moment has come/ It’s time to say hello. A student of the American International School,Venkatesan’s soprano skills were honed by Situ Singh Beuler,a leading soprano singer. “I am looking forward to singing Gioachino Rossini’s Cat Duet, which comprises various ways of saying meow,” she says.
