When Sonali Kulkarni unveiled her book So Kul,published by Rajhans Prakashan at Crosswords in Mumbai on Tuesday, the Marathi film and theatre fraternity made sure it was an occasion to remember. Their presence also ensured that the actor-turned-columnist enjoyed a steady flow of compliments throughout the evening for the book, which is a compilation of 102 of her columns published in Loksatta. Actor Nana Patekar, known for his frankness, confessed that he agreed to be the main guest at the event only because he liked the book. “I wouldn’t have come if I didn’t love the writing,” he said. Kumar Ketkar, editor of Loksatta, reminisced about Sonali’s transition from being a jittery columnist to a competent writer. It was a very proud moment for the theatre stalwart Satyadev Dubey, who has been Sonali’s mentor. “I will always support her in whatever she does,” he said.

Models Dipannita Sharma and Aditi Govitrikar came in late, but waited for their turn to personally congratulate Sonali. Atul Kulkarni was spotted with his copy of So Kul. Neena Kulkarni,Ajinkya Deo,Soni Razdan,Jabbar Patel,Divya Jagdale,Milind Gunaji,Swanand Kirkire and Shiv Subramaniam were seen picking up their copies as well. Sonali couldn’t stop smiling and looked ravishing in a black sari. Playing the perfect host, she personally thanked everyone who made it for the launch.
