The Kanpur I-T department will organise an outreach and awareness programme in Ghaziabad on August 4. (File) The Office of the Director of Income Tax Intelligence & Criminal Investigation of Kanpur will organise an outreach and awareness programme in Ghaziabad on August 4, Friday.
The programme will be held at IMS Ghaziabad (UG Campus) in Dasna, Ghaziabad at 11.30 am. Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, UP West and Uttarakhand, Shishir Jha and Principal Director General of Income Tax, Sunita Bainsla will be present in the programme.
“The outreach is being conducted in the backdrop of the developments that are taking place in the department, by virtue of which we are endeavouring to move towards a more non intrusive and tax payer friendly tax regime. The rapid progress happening in the sphere of intelligence gathering through third party reporting, which in turn is reflected in the AIS (Annual Information Statement) of the taxpayer, thereby also facilitating pre-filled returns are milestones that require to be shared with all the stakeholders,” said the Kanpur office of the department.
The income tax office further said that through the E-Verification Scheme, notices are being sent to the tax payers based on the mismatch between the information that is available with the department, gathered through TDS and Third Party Reporting and the particulars of the returns filed or where no returns have been filed.
“The awareness programme seeks to address the above issues along with the technical aspects of the same. In order to make it more meaningful, we have also requested a team from our Systems Directorate to be present during the Outreach Programme,” added the officer.
The Office of Director of Income Tax Intelligence & Criminal Investigation is a nodal agency of Income Tax Department, whose key functions are widening of the tax base through identification of stop filers and non-filers, deepening of tax base by providing information for proper selection of cases for scrutiny assessments etc.
