Former UP MLA shot at,robbed in Gurgaon

Alok Mittal,Gurgaon Commissioner of Police,said: “He is alright,completely out of danger. Two bullets were fired and one hit his leg. He is a former MLA from Uttar Pradesh and stays in Gurgaon. He is into property business now. A case of robbery has been registered. Gold rings and Rs 35,000 were robbed. The accused has also been identified and five teams of the Crime Branch are working on the case.”

Maurya was admitted to the Fortis Memorial Research Hospital. Speaking to Newsline,Maurya said: “I was in my car along with a driver,waiting for another friend who had gone over to the Unitech building nearby. Between 2.30 pm and 3 pm,[the assailant asked us to roll down the car window and started asked questions — who we were and why we had parked in a no-parking zone. Initially we thought he was a policeman… but he was not in uniform… He took out his revolver and shot at the front window of the car and the bullet hit my leg. Then,he asked us to hand over cash and jewellery. Numb with pain,I took out the cash and gave it to the man. He was tall,well-built and fair. There is no political rivalry… he was just there to rob us.”

Doctors said Maurya was brought to the hospital around 4 pm and was sent to the Emergency room. They said his condition was stable and that the bullet was removed.

Police said they had identified the assailant and were looking for him.
