The police also recovered over 55 litres of essence, which was being used to make the sub- standard products smell like the real deal,officers said.(Source: Freepik)NTC ERTH Vedik Desi Ghee, Gau Amrit, NAMDEV Desi Ghee, NTC Saras Gold and NS Nadan Saras–these are among the labels under which over 1500 litres of spurious ghee was being manufactured at a factory in Outer North Delhi’s Alipur, the police said on Thursday.
A tip-off was received about the racket on Tuesday, officers said.
“A thorough search was conducted at the factory premises of Bansal Agro Food Industries in Kheda Kalan, Alipur. Huge quantities of ready-for-distribution spurious desi ghee in different brands have been recovered,” DCP (outer north) Hareshwar Swami said.
The police also recovered over 55 litres of essence, which was being used to make the sub- standard products smell like the real deal,officers said.
“During investigation, it has been found that this factory was being run by one Gyanendra Singh. He has been making spurious desi ghee since 1995 and has been doing at the present address since 2014. He used to supply the spurious desi ghee in Delhi and adjoining states,” DCP Swami said.
