To keep Jaishanker locked in,prison tightens security

CCTV cameras will be installed in his cell and guards posted outside round the clock to keep a closer eye on Jaishankar’s movements.

Smarting from the embarrassment of serial rapist and killer Jaishankar’s escape on September 1,authorities at the Bangalore Central Prison have decided to tighten security to prevent him from staging another jailbreak. He has sprung out twice so far.

Additional DGP,Prisons,K V Gagandeep,said Jaishankar will not never again be lodged in the hospital ward,from where he had escaped. “He will be placed in one of the highly secured cells in the prison. And doctors will go to his cell if there is a necessity,” he added.

CCTV cameras will be installed in his cell and guards posted outside round the clock to keep a closer eye on his movements. Lighting around his cell will be also improved.

Besides,additional security will be provided to him when he is transported out for trials or treatment,Gagandeep said.

Jaishankar is accused in several cases of rape and murder in Bangalore Rural,Chitradurga,Hiriyur,Molakalmuru,Kadur and Tumkur districts of Karnataka. He is also facing similar cases in Chennai,Dharmapuri,Hosur,Salem and Tirupattur in Tamil Nadu.
