Shibani’s love for guitar & fight for women’s empowerment

With songs like “Sajnaa a Bhi Jaa” to “Zinda Hoon Main” and “Kya Kashmakash Hai Yeh” to her credit,she loves to experiment with music and likes to sing in her own way. “I enjoy all genres of music,whether it’s jazz,sufi,hip-hop,rock,punjabi or a fusion of them all,” she says. Kashyap is currently working on songs for the movie ‘Bhindi Bazar’,after having completed songs for the movies ‘Hostel’ and ‘Ashoka the hero’ that were released in January this year.

Kashyap says that while she enjoys commercial songs,it is songs for a social cause that are close to her heart. “I recently composed a song ‘Alvida’ that is a tribute to the innocent lives lost in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. And then there’s ‘Don’t Drink and Drive’ that I am working on that will be released soon,” says Kashyap. She has composed and sang the anthem for the 2011 Lavasa Women’s drive,a women’s car rally that supports awareness for breast cancer.

Next on her agenda is to work for the cause of safe motherhood and educate all illiterate mothers,who die during child birth. “I believe that when we can reach out to the audience,then we should. We should work for those who have made us who we are,” she signs off and picks up her guitar for a performance.
